It was expected to be a Harry Kane show at the Euros after a fine season with Tottenham. However, the 27-year-old England captain has been unable to light up the tournament so far.
Kane has been linked with an exit from Tottenham, with Chelsea among the clubs that are hot on his heels.
Besides being unable to score for England, Kane’s overall display has been poor and he has been facing criticisms for not joining the party.
Graeme Souness has however suggested that fatigue could be playing a role after a long domestic season, insisting the Tottenham striker must ‘wake up’ quickly.
“He looks a shadow of the player we know he is,” said Souness.
“He looks leggy and lacking enthusiasm. He’s not getting a great deal from England’s midfield, which isn’t working, but Harry looks tired and jaded.
“This is a guy who might have a big move this summer; he needs to wake himself up.
“Is he carrying something? But Kane is England’s one proven goalscorer at this level. If he is not scoring goals, you are in trouble.”
