Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has backed Sergio Ramos to do well at Chelsea if he makes a summer move to Stamford Bridge.
Ramos is a free agent this summer, as his contract with Real Madrid wasn’t extended.
The former Madrid captain is a veteran in defence and definitely won’t lack options. He has been linked with a move to the Premier League, and Mourinho has backed him to do well there.
Mourinho believes 35-year-old Ramos could have a similar impact in the Premier League to 36-year-old Thiago Silva, who helped Chelsea’s young squad win the Champions League with his invaluable leadership and experience last term.
Asked whether Ramos would still succeed in the English top flight at the age of 35, the Portuguese told talkSPORT: “You look to Thiago Silva and it’s a similar situation. He didn’t stay in Paris where people expected him to stay a couple more seasons.
“I believe Ramos is in a similar situation. He’s even more physical than Thiago to cope with the Premier League’s demands.
“He’s very good in the air and I have no doubts that he can play with intensity and for the demands of the Premier League.”
