Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland have been linked with a move to Chelsea, as the Blues are keen on signing a new striker this summer.
It’s glaring that Chelsea need a striker that can bang in the goals consistently, after a campaign where there were lack of goals up front from Timo Werner.
According to a report by Eurosport, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen on bringing back Lukaku and is personally “driving” the club’s pursuit of the Inter Milan striker.
Since leaving Chelsea, Lukaku has blossomed into a quality striker and is now rated as one of the best in the world.
Chelsea’s aim is to win the Premier League next season, and Werner and Tammy Abraham’s figures are far from impressive after they ended the season as the club’s joint-top scorers in all competition with 12 goals apiece, while Jorginho topped the team’s goalscoring charts in the Premier League with seven goals, which all came from penalties.
However, Lukaku has scored 23 and 24 goals in Serie A in 2019/20 and 2020/21, respectively.
Also, signing Lukaku will be a much cheaper deal for Chelsea compared to the signing of Kane and Haaland who could cost way more than £100m.
