Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been best friends with West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, since during their childhood days.
Both players have been at the Chelsea academy from under 8, before Rice was released at age 14.
Mount and Rice have blossomed into being top players and are now key players for both club and country.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hailed the duo and talked highly of their friendship.
Before England’s clash against Scotland, Ian Wright told ITV: “It’s a beautiful story… you can’t underestimate the journey that they’ve had to get here.”
However, Roy Keane, who has a reputation for being hard, couldn’t care less that two childhood mates have made it to the big time.
Keane said: “This is top-level sport – I don’t know why you’re worried about friendships… it’s big boy stuff.”
Wright, however, didn’t seem bullied by Keane’s comments and continued to speak highly of the duo.
Wright continued: “It’s the story and they must’ve been dreaming about that when we see the pictures of them.
“Now they’re here in arguably the biggest games of their lives at this point and they’re together as two mates.”
