Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was on TalkSport, and speaking ahead of England’s opening game in the European Championship, the Portuguese analysed the England team and gave his verdict on the Three Lions starting team.

Jose Mourinho chose Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell over Luke Shaw and opted for Mason Mount in his attacking middle position.

For buzzing right-back Reece James, Mourinho chose the experienced Kyle Walker over him.

Explaining his attacking midfield trio, Mourinho said: “Grealish left, Mount as the No10 and because I inverted wingers, I would play Foden on the right.

“Foden, Mount, Grealish. That’s why I’m saying Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice.

“Not Rice alongside Mount, that’s last ten minutes if you are losing. You need to respect opponents. It’s not like you are going to smash Croatia and have the ball all the time.”
