Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley spent the past season on loan with Aston Villa.
There was no space for Barkley in Frank Lampard’s second year at the club, and the 27-year-old opted for a loan spell with the Villans.
In a season that blew hot and cold for the Chelsea man, Barkley didn’t really impress much in the final phase of the season with Aston Villa after a brilliant start, and the Villans won’t sign him up permanently or retake him on another loan spell.
West Ham have now been linked with a move for Ross Barkley, with David Moyes keen on his former ward.
Moyes brought out the best in the Man Utd academy graduate Jesse Lingard and could reproduce the magic with Barkley whom he knows very well from his time at Goodison Park.
Meanwhile, Hull City legend Dean Windass believes the Chelsea midfielder could be a perfect for West Ham as Jesse Lingard’s perfect replacement. According to Windass, West Ham need a no. 10, and Barkley could play that role.
“Now Moyes has stayed, that could entice him,” the former striker told Football FanCast.
“He would be a great fit for West Ham now Jesse Lingard’s probably not going to return – Ross is a number 10 in my opinion, so I think that would be a great fit for West Ham.”
