Real Madrid have tied down Lucas Vazquez to a new and improved contract.
The extension was officially announced on Thursday afternoon after days of speculation and the versatile Vazquez is set to stay at Real Madrid until 2024.
The news comes as a blow to both Manchester United and Chelsea, who reportedly showed interest in snapping up the 29-year-old.
His previous Real Madrid contract was set to expire at the end of this month and the Blues had hoped to sign him as a free agent.
Vazquez would have been useful in Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-3 as he would have been able to play as a winger and also a right wing-back.
Vazquez joined Real Madrid as a youth player in 2007 and has since gone to make 240 appearances at senior level for them, scoring 26 goals.
