Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has definitely won the heart of the Chelsea fans, the board and the owner Roman Abramovich, after a fine season that culminated in the Champions League trophy.
Tuchel was given an 18-month deal upon his appointment as Chelsea manager in January following the sack of Frank Lampard. Tuchel admitted at the time that he was surprised to have gotten such a short contract but vowed to give his all.
After the Champions League success, Tuchel is now sure to get a more improved contract.
According to a report by The Athletic’s Simon Phillips, the Chelsea manager is set for a three-year deal and Thiago Silva is also set for a contract extension.
He tweeted: “Thomas Tuchel is staying at Chelsea, contract will be announced soon. 3 year extension. Thiago Silva extension is done as well.”
The Guardian has reported that Tuchel will also receive a raise on his £7million yearly wages.
Speaking before the Champions League final, Tuchel admitted that he was pleased to be at the club and felt peace and happiness with Chelsea.
“This is very easy. I’m just so happy to be here,” Thomas Tuchel told The Telegraph when asked if he could see himself signing a new contract with Chelsea.
“I have never felt so good since I was in Mainz and this feels like the perfect place and the perfect moment.
“I’m so happy to be here, so whatever will come will come. We cannot force things, but, of course, this is my point of view and this is very clear.”
