Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was made to miss England’s final group game against Czech Republic, having had contact with Billy Gilmour who tested positive to Covid-19.
Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell have been training at a ‘private location’, away from their team-mates, after being forced into isolation.
Mount may miss England’s clash against Germany next week Tuesday, as he can only resume team training on Monday.
On Thursday morning, both players underwent their drills in a ‘private location’.
England boss Gareth Southgate had hoped that he’d have both players available for socially distanced training, but so far, the decision from Public Health England (PHE) is that the two players remain isolated.
Southgate said before the Three Lions’ final group game: “They’re hugely disappointed to miss the games. We’ve just had to get on with it. It’s a bizarre situation really. They’ve spent 120 seconds too long in a fairly open space, it’s full of contradictions for me but we’ve got to get on with it.
“Frankly I don’t understand it at all because there are teams travelling around by plane, by bus, in enclosed spaces for hours and our two boys have been pinged for something which is… I really don’t get it.”
