Jorginho was a household name in the Euro 2020 tournament, as he was the toast of the Italian national team who went on to win the Cup.
Jorginho has earned massive praises since winning the Euros, and he made an impact even in the stats.
The Chelsea man made 25 interceptions throughout the Euro 2020 — the highest record in the tournament since 1980, and he also covered 86.6 km, the most of any player.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has admitted that he’s not still convinced by Jorginho’s display. Leboeuf insists Jorginho is poor defensively and was helped by his centre backs to win the Champions League and Euro 2020.
“I give him credit offensively, [but] defensively, he has so many weaknesses,” the former Chelsea centre-back told ESPN FC.
“If he didn’t have [Andreas] Christensen, Thiago Silva, and [N’Golo] Kante with him, he [wouldn’t have] won the Champions League.
“If he didn’t have [Leonardo] Bonucci and [Giorgio] Chiellini with him, he [wouldn’t have] won the Euro.
“He’s a fantastic player, he doesn’t lose any ball, he makes the football simpler, but defensively, when you’re in the middle of the park… I’m sorry.”
