Reports last week claimed Chelsea had failed with an £85million bid to sign Federico Chiesa with Juventus unwilling to open talks over the winger they had signed only last summer.
Chiesa was part of the Italy team that won the Euro 2020 this summer, with his impressive performances attracting the attention of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea have now reportedly turned attention to another member of the victorious Italian team following Juventus’ decision not to sell Chiesa.
According to Sportitalia via Daily Mail, Chelsea have enquired into signing Sassuolo and Italy forward Domenico Berardi.
The 26-year-old impressed for his country at Euro 2020, claiming two assists in the group stages on the Azzurri’s way to winning the tournament after beating England in the final on penalties.
Berardi scored 17 goals and laid on a further eight assists in 30 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo last season.
The report also adds that Borussia Dortmund and West Ham are interested in Beradi.
Serie A sides AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina have also shown an interest in Berardi, but reports suggest he is more likely to leave his home country should he depart this summer.
