The Blues have been handed a transfer blow in the race for Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was keen on signing the 21 year old striker after he scored 17 goals for Real Sociedad last season and impressed for Sweden in the Euro 2020.
Tuchel would now have to look elsewhere after Isak signed a contract extension at Real Sociedad, taking his deal through to 2026.
A club statement read: “Real Sociedad and Alexander Isak have agreed to the extension of the player’s contract, which ties him to the club until June 30, 2026.
“This afternoon, the player extended his contract in Stockholm. The event was attended by the president Jokin Aperribay, the Director of Football Roberto Olabe and the player himself.”
