Chelsea have started pre-season in earnest, and Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is handling a massive Chelsea squad in what is his first pre-season at the club.
The German will see firsthand what the young lads have to offer, as a number academy products are currently in his team.
Although Chelsea have let defenders from the academy like Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi leave the club on a permanent basis, Tuchel is reportedly keen on ensuring that Dujon Sterling remains at the club.
According to Goal, the 21-year-old fullback has impressed in training and has caught the eye of the Chelsea manager as he is now set for a new contract.
Moreso, Chelsea see the contract as a reward for his hard work and perseverance following his long injury absence. Dujon Sterling has missed 13 months of action having suffered a serious illness and enduring a hamstring problem.
He has recently returned to Chelsea training and is currently part of Thomas Tuchel’s pre-season camp.
Dujon’s current contract runs out next June, and clubs in the Championship are already targeting to sign him. Chelsea will be hoping they don’t lose him after losing Guehi and Tomori.
