There have been growing calls for Jorginho to be among the Ballon d’Or nominees after winning the Euros and lifting the Champions League trophy with Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has been in extraordinary form over the past season as he played a key role in helping Chelsea to win the Champions League, and then controlled the middle of the park as Italy went on to win the European Cup.
However, the midfielder brushed off talks of the Ballon d’Or in his post-match interview after the victory over England.
In an interview with beIN SPORTS, Jorginho stressed that he was focussed on ‘enjoying the moment’ with his Italy team-mates and not thinking about the Ballon d’Or.
“It’s incredible. It’s hard to find the words to explain my feelings right now because I’m so grateful, I’m so, so, so happy,” he said.
“It has been a long way and to have this feeling with this group, with all these people is just amazing.”
Asked about his Ballon d’Or chances, Jorginho replied: “Ah, next question!
“I don’t want to talk about that, I don’t think about that. I just want to enjoy this moment with these guys.”
