17 Chelsea players were represented in the recently concluded Euro 2020 tournament. 16 made it through to the round of 16, 8 made it through to the quarter-finals, and 7 made it to the semis.
Five Chelsea players were part of the Euro 2020 final squad, with Italy’s duo Emerson Palmieri and Jorginho the winners, while Mason Mount, Reece James and Ben Chilwell missed out at the last hurdle.
Of all Chelsea representatives in Euro 2020, only Jorginho was named in the team of the tournament, after a brilliant display for the Azzurris from start to finish.
Jorginho is one of 5 Italy players to make the team, and has now become European champion for both club and country.
Talks of a likely Ballon d’Or have been said of the Chelsea midfielder, and he has admitted that such talks aren’t farfetched depending on the criteria used in judging.
“We live for dreams,” Jorginho told SportTV.
“But I’ll be honest enough: it depends on the criteria that lead to assigning it.
“If we walk about talent, I’m aware that I’m not the best in the world. If you choose based on titles, well, no one has won more than me this season.
“How will I compare myself to [Lionel] Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Neymar? They have completely different characteristics, but again, it depends on the criteria.”
