Chelsea started the pre-season in the best possible way as the Blues beat Peterborough United 6-1 in the Cobham sunshine on Saturday morning in our first pre-season game.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel fielded two separate teams in the first and second half in order to spread early minutes around the squad.
Peterbrough drew first blood as they scored the first goal, but Chelsea came from behind to end the game with a comprehensive victory.
Siriki Dembele opened the scoring from the penalty spot for the visiting side, before Tammy Abraham levelled the scores and then Christian Pulisic scored a spot-kick of his own to ensure his side went into half-time in the lead.
Second-half sub Hakim Ziyech seemed to be the star of the game as he scored an impressive hat-trick.
Chelsea fans have been saying how pleased they are with his performance, and we can only hope to see the best of the Moroccan international next season.
It was a turps-turvy campaign for Ziyech as he didn’t reach his best heights under Thomas Tuchel. Ziyech was more impressive at the start of last season under Frank Lampard and was the star of the team with his extraordinary passing range, but injury got the better of him and he never got going except in certain periods.
