Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or after a very successful season with Chelsea where he starred in the Blues Champions League victory.

Many touted Kante as a top contender if France won the Euros, but the Les Bleus has now been knocked out of the Euro by Switzerland in round of 16.

Meanwhile, Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that his two bets to win the Ballon d’Or are former Chelsea players Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne.

“If I gave you €100,” I ask Roberto Martinez, “would you bet it on [Romelu] Lukaku for the Ballon d’Or?”

“I would split €50 for Romelu Lukaku and €50 for Kevin De Bruyne,” he says without missing a beat. “I think both, in their roles, they’ve been the best in world football. So I hope that they can get the rewards that they deserve.”

Lukaku won the Serie A with Inter Milan while De Bruyne won the Premier League with Manchester City.

Kante’s hopes of winning the Ballon d’Or meanwhile have taken a hit after France early Euro 2020 exit.
