Chelsea’s main striking target is Erling Haaland, however the Blues are not putting all their eggs in one basket regarding this deal.
Chelsea are keen on getting a top striker ahead of the 2021-22 season, and while getting Haaland may be achieved, it won’t be an easy deal to pull through. Romelu Lukaku won’t be making a move this summer and Harry Kane would be a very difficult option as well.
Surprisingly, Chelsea are now being linked with a move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski yet again. While this report from The Sun may not be taken too serious, there are some elements of the report that swings in Chelsea’s favour.
German media outlet Bild has reported that the move for Lewandowski may be far from achievable, but conceded that it’s not impossible due to certain reasons.
Bayern are reportedly hoping to extend Lewandowski’s contract, with his contract to expire in 2023. However, Bayern are facing a tough negotiation battle over a new deal with Lewandowski’s agent, Plini Zahavi.
If both parties could not reach an agreement, this transfer window would likely be the last opportunity for Bayern to make substantial money from the sale of the Poland international.
BILD further added that Zahavi has excellent contacts, particularly in England, and particularly has a good relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich. Zahavi was heavily involved in Abramovich’s acquisition of Chelsea in 2003, and wouldn’t hesitate to swing the pendulum to Chelsea’s favour if an opportunity arises to sell Lewandowski.
