It was a disappointing campaign for Germany in the ongoing European Championship as they were knocked out by England in the round of 16 clash at Wembley.
After managing to make it through the group stage, the Germans were eventually knocked out by the Three Lions, causing three Chelsea players — Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Antonio Rudiger to pack their bags home earlier than expected.
On a personal, it was a disappointing tournament for Werner who has a lot to prove following his lack of goals with Chelsea last season.
Werner was in the F1 paddock at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, and the 25-year-old said in an interview with Sky Sports that England are the team to win the tournament.
Asked whether Southgate’s side can win the Euros, Werner told Sky Sports: “Yes I think so! After yesterday, of course.
“They played a brilliant game against Ukraine and I think in the end they were the better team in the game on Tuesday [against Germany].
“So they have all they need to win the Euros and I wish them all the best.”
