Kurt Zouma has had his highs and lows at Chelsea, and it’s so easy to forget that he has been at the club for a long time.

A leg break in Jose Mourinho’s second stint left him out injured for one year, at a time when he was beginning to break into the squad.

Zouma always does well on loan, and former boss Frank Lampard decided to retain him after a nice loan spell with Everton.

Zouma was a key player under Frank Lampard, but the appointment of Thomas Tuchel saw him more as a backup player, as he was in and out of the squad.

Recent reports claim Tuchel is ready to offload the Frenchman and is open for him to be a part of a swap deal for Jules Kounde.

According to reports, the centre-back and striking positions are the two main areas the Blues boss wants to strengthen.

Tuchel reportedly drew up a four-man centre-back options which included Ibrahima Konate – who has joined Liverpool, Niklas Sule, Jose Gimenez and Kounde. And it is Kounde Chelsea are mostly keen on.

Tuchel is keen on adding Kounde to a backline that already has Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James.

Tuchel wants a formidable back three partnership next season and is only keen on players who are good on the ball. Zouma’s strengths may be his speed and strength as well as aerial presence, but he’s not so comfortable on the ball, and the Athletic claim this is the main reason he’d be leaving Chelsea this summer, either as part of the Kounde deal or an outright sale.
