According to Spanish media outlet Diario AS via Chelsea Chronicle, Sevilla expect Jules Kounde to remain with the La Liga club this season despite interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with the 22 year old France international defender but are reluctant to meet Sevilla’s demand.
Kounde has a release clause of £68million and Sevilla are reportedly demanding a fee close to his release clause.
Chelsea have never been willing to meet Sevilla’s asking price for Kounde and have instead tried to involve a player in a swap deal.
Kurt Zouma was reportedly offered in a swap deal for Kounde but the Chelsea defender had no interest in joining Sevilla.
Thomas Tuchel’s decision to keep Trevoh Chalobah in the squad also seems to have cooled Chelsea’s interest in signing Kounde this summer.
However, The Telegraph claim Chelsea could still make a late bid for Kounde if Zouma leaves the club before the end of the transfer window.
Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Zouma and the defender is open to leaving Chelsea for a London club.
