Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is spoilt for choice when it comes to the midfield area of the team.
Chelsea have abundance of midfield talents both at the club and away on loan.
Just recently, The Athletic announced that three Chelsea midfielders Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley have been told that they are surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and they can now find a new club for themselves before the end of the transfer window.
Bakayoko, Barkley and Drinkwater are decent players, but they sure wouldn’t have a place on the Chelsea bench due to the abundance of quality.
In the current squad, apart from the midfield trio of Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, Tuchel has an Ethan Ampadu who is highly rated and the amazing Trevoh Chalobah can also slot into the midfield position.
On loan, Chelsea have two top midfielders in Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour that can stake a place in midfield for most of the Premier League sides.
In fact, Liverpool boss Jurgen Kopp showed his approval for Gilmour’s quality when he labelled him as the best Scottish talent in the last 50 years.
“They [Norwich] lost good players – or one at least, what I know about – but they did sensational business,” Klopp said ahead of facing Norwich last weekend.
“Billy Gilmour is obviously one of the biggest Scottish talents for the last 50 years, bringing him in on loan.”
