Last summer, Chelsea spent over £200m to strengthen the squad, and this summer, the Blues aren’t going to splash the cash in the transfer market but would rather try to strengthen the weak areas of the team.
The Chelsea squad looks good under Thomas Tuchel, but there’s still that need for a top striker.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Erling Haaland is surely a stressful one. The Germans aren’t keen on selling, and Chelsea are very keen on buying.
Deals for Romelu Lukaku and Robert Lewandowski haven’t also gone as planned, as Chelsea have been unable to meet the signing of any of the club’s striker targets.
Despite all that, football reporter Angelo Mangiante has maintained that ‘a new striker will certainly arrive’ at Stamford Bridge this summer. He believes that the Chelsea board will do everything possible to ensure Thomas Tuchel gets a striker.
Thomas had revealed at the end of last season that the club was indeed targeting a handful of signings, which currently agrees with the club’s move for Jules Kounde and Erling Haaland.
He said: “Two or three (signings) could be very, very good. It’s a constant thing to never deny change; that you always bring new energy, new guys who question the old beliefs, who challenge everybody in the training and in matches, so I think it’s a good thing.
“We don’t need another seven and another complete turnover because it’s also our job to keep on improving, because we have still a young squad and it’s not about stealing from them the chance to prove it again, that they are capable of growing and evolving. But we have some ideas, of course, to make the group stronger, and I think this can always be a positive thing to challenge all of us.”
