Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has been tipped to win the Ballon d’Or, along with Lionel Messi.
N’Golo Kante was also tipped for the award but France disappointing performance in the Euro 2020 has affected his Ballon d’Or ratings.
Jorginho had a good tournament in the Champions League and was among the best players in the Euros as he played a key role in helping Italy to win the tournament.
Former Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida has revealed that Jorginho is the right candidate for the Ballon d’Or award but admitted that Lionel Messi always stands a threat.
“Jorginho has won more than anyone else, thanks to that brace of the Champions League and Euros, so I’d give it to him or Gianluigi Donnarumma,” he told Tuttosport.
“Having said that, Lionel Messi is always Messi and has to be taken into consideration.”
Braida also admitted that Chelsea target Chelsea target Federico Chiesa can be a contender for the Ballon d’Or.
“He’s already won the Euros with Italy, so if he keeps improving like this, Chiesa can have ambitions to win the Ballon d’Or in future, too,” he said.
