Arsenal reached a new low last season when they finished 8th in the Premier League, and Mikel Arteta’s side look bereft of vision.
It couldn’t have been any worse for the Gunners in the opening game of the season as they were beaten 2-0 by newly promoted Brentford.
Arsenal’s summer transfers have been criticised by pundits as well as their recent buys, and the new season is looking dim again for the north London club.
Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has backed Arteta to face the sack soon and believes that the game against Chelsea will be too much for Arteta and his boys.
“For whatever reason Arsenal are miles off their personal standards,” Glen Johnson told SBK Sportsbook.
“At the moment the gap between them and the top four is getting even bigger. They’re going to have a big, important season on their hands to try to get around seventh or eighth.
“There is massive pressure on Arsenal already for obvious reasons. I don’t want to see Mikel Arteta get sacked, I want him to come good and hopefully Arsenal get back to competing and giving us the beautiful football we’re used to watching.
“But I can’t see how the club could stick by him and ignore the pressure from the fans if they get off to a slow start.”
