Premier League clubs have “reluctantly and unanimously decided not to release players for international matches player in red-list countries”.

Premier League clubs took this decision as travel to any country on UK’s ‘red list’ requires a ten-day quarantine upon return.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva will be affected by the decision and he isn’t happy about it.

“The clubs are talking directly with FIFA and CBF [Brazilian Football Confederation] to try to find a solution for this moment,” the veteran told Globo Esporte.

“Hopefully, they can find a way to have this release so that we can represent our country. In fact, clubs don’t have much to do, it’s up to governments, not necessarily the clubs.

“But it sucks. Our hands are tied, not knowing what to do at this point, because it’s really not an easy situation.

“It’s the first time we’ve gone through a similar situation, but I hope it’s resolved in the best way. Because there are nine from the Premier League, right. It’s difficult.”
