Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been named Goalkeeper of the Season for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League, and the Blues number one beat a number of world class goalkeepers to get this award.

The 29-year-old beat off competition from Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to be named as the number one goalkeeper in Europe.

The award was presented to Mendy during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Istanbul.

Mendy had a good Champions League tournament as he made 12 appearances, kept 9 Clean sheets, and conceded just 3 goals all through the tournament. Mendy had a incredible save percentage of 91.2%.

With over 100 judges putting in their votes, Mendy was undoubtedly the best goalkeeper by a distance.
