Chelsea fought hard to get a point at Anfield, after a Reece James red card before the stroke of half-time changed the game.

See how the Chelsea players fared in this game

Mendy: Top performance from the Senegalese. Besides conceding from the spot, he took everything that came his way and handled every cross perfectly. Was in good command of his box and was just too brilliant. 9/10

Azpilicueta: Played out his heart today at Anfield. Was defensively resilient and even he moved to the right wing-back position, his performance was still top class. 8/10

Christensen: Top class performance from the Dane. Didn’t seem to put a foot wrong and has just kept improving since last season. 9/10

Rudiger: He handled Salah brilliantly. Looked like he was going to lose it, but he maintained his cool all through. 8/10

Kante: Reclaimed balls, started attacks, closed channels — he was everywhere until he had to be subbed off through injury. Could easily be called the best player in the first half. 8/10

Jorginho: Controlled play in the first half, but the second half wasn’t too easy for him as Liverpool had the numerical strength in midfield. Brilliant performance nevertheless. 7/10

Reece James: Was having a good game until the sending off before half-time. Delivered the corner for Kai Havertz goal. The ball hitting his hand leading to his red card wasn’t intentional as it first hit his thighs. 5/10
Alonso: Many were afraid that the Spaniard would be overrun by Liverpool’s attack, but he was good all through the game. His performance attacking and defending was brilliant. He was composed on the ball especially in the second half with Chelsea a man down. 7/10

Mount: Worked hard and was a constant threat in the first half. Reece James red card ensured he played a deeper role from the right in the second half, and he did very well. 7/10

Havertz: His looping header gave Chelsea the lead, and when it looked like he was gaining ascendancy in the game, he was subbed off at half-time. 7/10

Lukaku: He might not have gotten a goal in this game, but he was brilliant. Disciplined performance from the Belgian as he led the line really well. 7/10

Kovacic: His introduction helped the team as he brought energy to the midfield, was neat on the ball and helped Chelsea keep possession at crucial times. 7/10

Thiago Silva: His experience was crucial. He brought calm to the team’s display. 7/10

Chalobah: Late sub
