Chelsea’s quest to sign a new striker is gaining momentum, and it seems former Blue Romelu Lukaku may make a sensational return to the club he signed up for as a teenager.
Inter president has come out to say outrightly that they are not interested in selling Lukaku to Chelsea this summer, but the Telegraph claim the Italians are merely playing hardball and that they may be forced into selling Lukaku because of their dire financial situation.
According to a report by the Telegraph, Inter Milan will reluctantly accept a bid of around £100million from Chelsea for Lukaku after officials at the club privately admitted they need to sanction one more high profile departure this summer to balance the books.
Inter are in bad shape financially, and the sale of Achraf Hakimi to PSG may not be enough to balance the books. Lukaku remains their most expensive player who can generate figures of up to £100m, and Inter are hoping Chelsea bid up to that amount or more for the Belgian.
For Erling Haaland, it might just be au revoir if Chelsea sign Lukaku this summer. Haaland’s release clause of £65m will be active from next summer.
