Chelsea got a deserved victory over Arsenal in a pre-season fixture at the Emirates Stadium, as the Blues scored in each half to win the game 2-1.
Timo Werner and Kai Havertz combined beautifully midway into the first half to score the first goal for Chelsea.
With 20 minutes left of the game, Arsenal pulled level through a Granit Xhaka header. It didn’t take long as Tammy Abraham immediately punished Arsenal for their woeful defending to make it 2-1.
Chelsea showed they were indeed ready for the new season as they bossed Arsenal for large spells of the game, and Tammy Abraham admitted that Thomas Tuchel’s intensive work on the training ground has helped the team.
The German is handling the team for the first time in pre-season, and Tammy Abraham admitted his methods have gotten them ready to go.
Speaking after the game against Arsenal, Abraham revealed he was extremely tired despite having played for just 45 minutes.
“Absolutely tired — shattered,” he admitted when asked about how he felt after the game.
“The boys have been working hard in training, and it’s for the best.
“We’re all ready for the season, and we’ll take our time and we still have a couple more sessions to come and players coming back.”
