Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to send off Reece James and give Liverpool a penalty during the 1-1 draw at Anfield was a double punishment.
The German tactician insists the referee ruined what was an interesting contest.
“I think double punishments are super hard and it was a bit of a spoiler for the game,” said Tuchel.
“I do not like these early red cards; nobody wants to see that for 45 minutes. We have to live with it.
“I’m not sure there is a harder challenge, when you are down to 10 men, have to take N’Golo Kante off (through injury) and Liverpool are attacking The Kop. I would have wished that the referee made a longer consideration, rather than just the image. On the bench, we saw the full movement.”
