Chelsea signed up Saul Niguez on transfer deadline day, as the Atletico Madrid man joined Chelsea on a loan deal, with the Blues having the option to sign him permanently for a fee of £34m.
Saul didn’t like the way he was being used by Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, and sought to change clubs as Simeone didn’t agree to play him in his preferred position.
The 26-year-old sought to move to Chelsea by himself as he fought his way out of Atletico Madrid having been unhappy with his playing position for so long.
Atletico Madrid’s president Enrique Cerezo has now told Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on the best possible way to keep Saul Niguez happy.
“Saul was not very satisfied in the position [wing back] in which he was playing and has decided to leave,” Cerezo said, per the Daily Express.
“Wherever he goes he will be a great player and much loved by Atletico de Madrid.”
