Chelsea proved doubters wrong last season as the Blues went beyond expectations to win the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel came on board in January, and his coming turned things around at the end. Chelsea deservedly won the Champions League and beat Atletico Madrid, Porto, Real Madrid and Manchester City enroute to winning the Champions League.

As defending champions, Chelsea now have a bigger task on ground to fight and retain the trophy, but Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta is oozing with confidence ahead of this task.

Only two clubs have ever retained the top crown in Europe – AC Milan and Real Madrid, and Chelsea indeed have what it takes to join this Elite league.

With our opening game against Zenit later today, Azpilicueta has said that the players are confident ahead of this season’s Champions League competition.

“Every year we try to improve,” Azpilicueta said.

“That is natural. The players are here from last season, the club always tries to improve the team every year and of course, Romelu is a big addition. His ambition to help the team, of course we feel stronger. That gives us confidence coming back from a Champions League win.”
