Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, and the away side were deserving winners of the game after a second half goal from Gabriel Jesus.

Chelsea’s midfield couldn’t do battle against City’s midfield as Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the middle of the park.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin believes that the midfield battle was lost due to the lack of fitness of N’Golo Kante. Kante didn’t have a good game and wasn’t his usual self as he had to be subbed off at half-time.

“When you go 2v2 at the back, they can flood the midfield, and they won the midfield,” Pat Nevin told the club’s post-match Matchday Live programme.

“That’s why our midfield was overrun.

“And I’m not sure that N’Golo was fit. That was a long, long way from N’Golo we’re used to.

“I can only see that as him not being 100 percent fit.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
