One good thing Frank Lampard did for Chelsea was to create a pathway for some of the academy boys to make it to the first team. Till now, we are still reaping from the strategy of the club legend.
Mason Mount has gone on to be a fantastic player for the club, and has earned his own reputation without being called Lampard’s son.
Was voted as Chelsea’s Player of the Season last term, and it’s not hard to see why.
Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has hailed the quality coming through the Chelsea academy and particularly sang the praise of Mason Mount whom he rates as a £70m signing.
According to Merson, Mount has saved Chelsea the stress of spending £70m in that position, and the money has been used to sign Romelu Lukaku.
Paul Merson wrote in his column for the Daily Star: “Chelsea have had a good crop come through. Mason Mount, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi.
“When you have players like that coming through it helps. Mason Mount has saved Chelsea £70m. That’s how they can go out and spend their money on a Romelu Lukaku.”
