According to The Athletic, Chelsea are ready to move for promising 21-year-old Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni next summer.
The France under-21 international was named Ligue 1’s Young Player of the Year last term and also made the division’s Team of the Year as he made 36 appearances for Monaco, who finished third.
Tchouameni was a summer transfer target for the Blues but Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia felt he could flourish with another season of experience in Ligue 1.
The Blues were understood to be concerned that Tchouameni lacked the experience to make an instant impact, despite playing 91 times in Ligue 1 already.
Monaco reportedly value the midfielder at around £34million and Manchester United are also interested in signing him.
Tchouameni played alongside Paul Pogba in midfield for France against Ukraine on Saturday night and Pogba rates him highly.
Pogba told Ouest-France: “Very very good. He’s not a boy, he’s a man.
“It was a pleasure to play next to him. He brings a lot of energy. A lot of energy, extraordinary technical and physical quality.
“We wish him to play lots of matches. and that I am always at his side.”
