Frank Lampard was sacked in January after a series of poor results, and Thomas Tuchel was appointed to take charge of the Blues and was given an 18-month contract.
Lampard had paved the way for the academy players to excel in the first team, and the academy staff were wondering what would be with the incoming Germany boss.
According to The Athletic, shortly after taking charge, Tuchel called for a meeting with his staff at the club’s Cobham training ground, many of who worked with the academy players, and he gave them a shocker with his demeanor.
The Athletic claim he asked one member of staff to get the drinks in with his own personal preference said to be ‘strong, German beer.’
On the work at the academy, the new boss made it clear he was keen to be involved with the younger players’ development in the squad and wouldn’t shut off the pathway to the first team.
The Chelsea staff were also pleased with the calm manner Tuchel approached them following his appointment.
Tuchel seem tailor-made for Chelsea as he’s building a good mix of experience and youth, and the team has indeed improved massively under his watch.
Hopefully, Chelsea can get a long term manager for the first time under Roman Abramovich.
