Former Blue Tony Cascarino has revealed that he’s surprised at how Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso has gotten his career back on track.

Alonso has been in top form this season and has displaced Ben Chilwell who was amazing last season.

Cascarino now believes Alonso is one of the best left-backs in the world following his performances this season, and he has credited it to Tuchel.

“I think Tuchel is showing everybody in the game he can be an incredible manager. Just knowing how to switch teams, personnel, the way they play, who fits into what he wants,” said Cascarino.

“He showed a way in the first half at the weekend (versus Spurs) when he changed things around.

“The tempo of (Spurs’) play was far higher but then (N’Golo) Kante was straight on to the pitch and (Tuchel) was so complimentary of Kante because he knows how effective he is as a player.

“(Tuchel) does that across the board. Look at Alonso. Alonso’s playing like one of the best left-backs in the world at the moment.”
