Graeme Souness was unimpressed with the performance of Saul Niguez against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel picked Saul in his starting XI against Aston Villa following his deadline day transfer from Atletico Madrid.
Following an unimpressive first-half performance from Saul, Tuchel had to take off the Spanish midfielder at half-time.
“I’ll tell you something, there were four Villa chances and three of these, Saul’s involved in them,” Souness said. “Sloppy passing here, ends up giving the ball to Villa.
“Not a great ball ultimately, there. But Villa have done really well, high energy, looked to try and get on the ball.
“That pass by Saul, it’s simple giving the ball away. He’s [Tuchel’s] got to get him off for me at half time, give him a chance to look at it.”
