Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen is having a good time under Thomas Tuchel, and the 25-year-old has seen his game develop massively under the German.

The Dane international has been with the Chelsea academy since age 16, and has had spells in and out of the squad over the years. He has always been massively rated from his time in the academy and proved himself during a two year loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 25-year-old had a good time under Antonio Conte but struggled towards the end of Conte’s reign and found it difficult under subsequent managers including Frank Lampard.

However, the appointment of Thomas Tuchel has seen Christensen resurrect his career, and his performance in the Champions League final and also the Euros last season was superb.

Now in the final year of his contract, the Dane has said that he’s a happy player and admitted it was a difficult time for him under Lampard.

Speaking to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet, Christensen said when asked about a possible contract extension in west London.
“I know a lot is being said right now. I can not say too much, but I think it looks good.

“We have won the Champions League and the Super Cup.

“I am very happy to be at this club and feel Chelsea are the right place to be in England.”

“I know Thomas Tuchel believes in me. I have also played a big role since he came,” he added.

“I had a very difficult period under Lampard, shortly before he was fired.

“Now luckily it’s going the right way for me. But yes, things can go fast in this world.

“The most important thing is just that I have never given up.”
