Chelsea legend John Terry spent three years as Dean Smith’s assistant at Aston Villa, as the Blues legend learnt the ropes of management after a successful playing career.

The 40-year-old has now revealed that he’s patiently waiting for an offer as he spends time with his family.

Terry decided to call it quits with Villa at the end of last season and he has admitted that it’s now time to work as a manager.

“I’m always waiting, but the idea was to step away and spend the year with family and see what comes up,” he told Sky Sports.

“You know what it’s like, we’re a month into the season I’m sure jobs will come up and I’m there and waiting and doing what I need to do in the background, but if not, I’m enjoying my time with the family.

“I love Aston Villa as a football club but I think everyone knew when I went in there I wanted to be a number one and that’s very much at the forefront as I speak.”
