Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Reece James suffered an ankle injury following a collision with Jack Grealish in the first half of Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

James attempted to play on but was unable to continue and had to be taken off for Thiago Silva.

When asked about James’ injury after the game, Tuchel told Chelsea’s official website: “I don’t know about Reece at the moment. He twisted his ankle and it was very painful for him.

“I have no other news on him at this stage but let’s see how he is in the next few days.”
