Kai Havertz signed for a big fee last year as the German international joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 22-year-old is already a Champions League winner just one year after joining Chelsea, and he has hailed Mateo Kovacic as one of the heroes in the Chelsea team.

Havertz also acknowledged how the Croatian helped him settle into the team when he first joined and spoke highly of his ball playing abilities.

“To be honest, there is a lot of players that have helped me a lot,” Havertz told the official club website.

“I think one of them for me for example was Kova.

“I had a very good relationship with him from day one. He’s a different character in playing football but I think we share the same understanding of football.

“He is like a hero because he always wants the ball.

“Even when we concede the ball, he’s always the first one to take the ball and in doing that, I think he gives us a lot of confidence.

“He’s a player who always likes a lot of movement.

“He’s very quick on the ball. Very good for a team like us because we like to play very fast football.

“Just very good to have someone like him here at Chelsea.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
