Chelsea started the Champions League Group H on a fine note as the Blues defeated Zenit St Petersburg 1-0.

It was a difficult night at Stamford Bridge as the first half ended goalless, with the Russian side putting in a fine defensive shift.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel cut a frustrated figure in the first half as Chelsea lacked intensity and drive.

However, the second half was very different as the team played with more intensity and were very direct. The chances started coming in and Romelu Lukaku eventually found the net with a 69th minute header.

Chelsea had chances to extend the lead but didn’t take advantage of it.

Lukaku has proven to be a top signing for Chelsea, and the Belgian has now scored four goals in four games in all competitions for Chelsea.
