Premier League rivals Manchester City reportedly turned down the chance to sign Chelsea midfielder Saul Niguez on transfer deadline day.

According to Daily Star via Metro, Atletico Madrid offered Saul to Manchester City before the Spain international eventually joined Chelsea on loan on transfer deadline day.

The report claims Man City were approached by Atletico Madrid with a proposition to swap Saul for Bernardo Silva in a player-plus-cash move but Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was reportedly not interested in signing Saul.

26 year old Saul finally joined Chelsea on loan on transfer deadline day with Chelsea having an option to make it permanent for £30m at the end of the season.
