According to Christian Falk of German media outlet Bild, Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger is demanding his Chelsea salary is doubled.
Falk tweeted that Chelsea would have to double Rudiger’s gross annual salary of €5.5million (£4.7m) to convince him to sign a new deal.
Rudiger’s current contract will expire at the end of the season and he is reportedly willing to leave the club if his demands aren’t met.
If no new contract is agreed by January, Rudiger will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs from abroad amid interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG.
Rudiger has been key to Chelsea’s success under Thomas Tuchel, and he continued his fine form in Tuesday’s Champions League win over Zenit St Petersburg.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is reportedly open to replacing Rudiger with Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, who was willing to join Chelsea for a yearly salary of €4.5m (£3.8m) after tax.
