Former Blue Andy Townsend has hailed Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante as the trigger in the Chelsea squad.
Kante played a key role in helping Chelsea win the Champions League last season, and the Frenchman has proven to be an influential player this season.
Kante made his impact in last weekend’s 3-0 win over Tottenham as he came off the bench and changed the game for the Blues. Spurs were the better side in the first half but Kante’s introduction at half-time changed the game in Chelsea’s favour.
According to Townsend, Kante’s energy in the middle of the park is a trigger for his teammates.
“When he does this, it’s infectious,” said Townsend, highlighting Kante’s impact against Spurs.
“What he’s always done so well, whether it’s playing for his national team, in the blue of Chelsea or even in a Leicester shirt, is being a kind of trigger.
“He’s the trigger man for all that kind of stuff that happens.
“Whenever he’s hunting people, the rest of the team follow him.”
Chelsea play host to Manchester City this weekend, and it’s a massive game for the Blues in the race for the title.
