The international break is gradually coming to an end, and players will soon start returning to their respective clubs.
For Chelsea, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will be preparing his side to face Aston Villa this weekend, and three of his top stars have fitness or sickness concerns.
Romelu Lukaku, N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz are the three Blues with fitness and illness concerns.
For Lukaku, he has admitted he has been ‘struggling’ with a minor injury and will undergo a scan on a thigh injury before returning to Chelsea this week.
“I’ll have a scan of my thigh first,” Lukaku told HLN after Belgium’s win against Czech Republic.
“I have been struggling with a minor issue for a while. And then I will return to Chelsea.”
For Kante, he was forced off at half time in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool due to an ankle injury.
Kante reported for international duty with France last Monday but subsequently pulled out of the squad for their three World Cup qualifiers.
Chelsea are now monitoring Kante’s ankle problem ahead of the weekend game against Aston Villa.
Kai Havertz case is that of a minor illness.
Before Germany’s game against Armenia, German boss Hansi Flick revealed Havertz was a doubt for the game due to a ‘mild flu-like infection’.
Flick said: “Kai Havertz has a mild flu-like infection, but it’s not that bad. We still have to see if he can train with us today.”
All three cases seem to be mild, but Kante has to be managed this season as the 30-year-old has been battling injury issues for the past two seasons.
Meanwhile, Pulisic who had missed the previous game against Liverpool due to coronvirus is now back in training with the US squad.
