Romelu Lukaku told he’s proving himself to be at the level as Cristiano Ronaldo

Former Belgium coach René Vandereycken has claimed Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is proving himself to be at the level as Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

While Ronaldo has scored three goals in two appearances for Manchester United, Lukaku has scored four goals in four appearances for Chelsea.

He told Het Nieuwsblad: “While everyone was convinced of Ronaldo at Manchester United from when the negotiations were still ongoing, Lukaku still had to convince a large number of people that he was the right man for Chelsea.

“In a short time he convinced the majority of those doubters.

“Ronaldo and Lukaku were one and two in the top scorer positions in Italy last season and are among the top strikers in Europe.

“Attackers from the lower level sometimes have periods when their goal production stops, but Ronaldo and in the meantime also Lukaku are real top scorers who score goals throughout the season.”
