Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez started his first Chelsea game against Aston Villa following his deadline day transfer from Atletico Madrid.
Saul failed to impress and was taken off at half-time and replaced by Jorginho.
Rating Saul’s debut performance, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports: “I had the feeling that he struggled. There were some big mistakes, passing mistakes, and he struggled with the intensity.
“You could see he isn’t fully adapted. It’s completely my responsibility. I had the feeling he could jump in for us and play at that level.
“I thought it was maybe better to change him, but it doesn’t change anything.”
There will definitely be another game for the Spanish midfielder to show he has what it takes to play for Chelsea.
